The Mad Potter and Fun Together

Hey Girls!! I was just thinking about this weekend and how much fun we are going to have together! We are going to The Mad Potter on Sunday from 3m-5pm to paint ice cream bowls and eat pizza...I am so excited. There is nothing I love more than spending time with all of you, and doing something creative with you is even better! Be sure to bring your permission slips signed by parent/guardian (I will have some extra at The Mad Potter for parents to sign in case they forget), $15 in cash or check (made out to Liz Davenport) and your best painting skills! I know that each of you will make an amazing bowl. You get to keep the bowls you paint, but they won't be ready to take home for a week or so (they have to fire them in a kiln...I hope that we are going to get a short tour of the kiln), I will pick them up and bring them in to church when they are ready so you can take them home!

Last week we were still talking about how the Bible is our ultimate source of knowledge directly from God to us! The Bible is there for us to use when we don't know what to do; it shows us the wise choice to make. I know that it is hard sometimes to know what God wants from us everyday, we don't hear his voice like they use to in the Old Testament stories and Jesus isn't here on Earth anymore to tell us what to do. So how do we know what God wants us to do, say or be? We can read our Bible!! It is the way that God speaks to us...it tells us about His love for us, His expectations of us and His rewards when we do what we should. The Bible can show us what is the right choice to make in our lives today...even though it was written a long time ago. God intended it that way! He wanted to give us a book that would be just as important to us today as it was hundreds of years ago, and even hundereds of years from now in the future! God is so great!

Whenever I have a problem or a situation where I don't know what do, or I am afraid that if I try to solve a problem all by myself that I won't make the wise choice...I read my Bible! I have always been able to make the choice that God wants for me when I ask Him first!

Try this week to read the Table of Contents from your Bible with a grown up...when we know the books of the Bible and where they are located, we can more easily look up the verses we need. The books are sometimes hard to pronounce, so just do your best....when we read and learn God's Word we are storing it in our hearts!

Mrs. Beth and I are praying that you have a great week at school and home and that if you have a choice to make, that you read your Bible to know what God wants you to do!

HUGS!!!!!

Hey Girls,

I just wanted to say that I am going to miss you this week at church...I am under the weather, but hope to be back up and running by next week! I know that Mrs. Beth and Mrs. Jackelyn will have a great time with you all and teach you some really cool stuff about resourcefulness!!

I wanted to see how many of you got out your "prayer cubes" this week and prayed for the buddy who's name you wrote down? I bet that if you did, you feel really good about taking the time to think about someone else! And did you get a chance to try an use God's help to acomplish that BIG goal you wrote down...the one that seems to large to do all on your own? Trust that God can do all things...and that through Him even the biggest jobs are possible (remember Hezekiah?!)!!

This Sunday you will be hearing the story of Moses when the Lord asked him to do a job that Moses knew was to big for him to do alone. God gave Moses all the resources he needed to complete this huge task and Moses used them to do God's will. Read Exodus 4:1-23, 27-31 today and be ready for a great lesson in the Warehouse tomorrow!!

Don't forget your Memory Verse: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men" Colossians 3:23, NIV

And your Virtue: Resourcefulness

This is our last week for this memory verse and virtue....so be ready and watching the blog this next week for our new ones!! I bet we can have it memorized by next week and we can be the first class to fill our bucket with our memory verses!!

BRING YOUR BIBLES!! It is an easy way to get your name in the prize cart drawing and it is a great way to show respect to God and carry His Word to church!!!
I will miss you!! Hope you have a great Sunday...make me proud!!
Hugs and smooches!!

Mrs. Liz is planning a vacation!!

Hi Girls!! So, I am sorry, but I have been a bad "blogger" this week...I have had the craziest week!! I bet you all have had hard weeks like this one before too. You know... like extra homework, lots of tests, more chores at home and your Mom or Dad seem to be pestering you to always do something else! That has been my week and I have really had to be resourceful! I have had to use what God gives me to get the job done everyday!

Speaking of that, my family and I are planning a vacation! We are so excited about taking a trip and all of us being together for a whole week...but, we are really having to rely on God for his help and guidance. You see, last year we took our vacation at the beach...Gulf Shores, Alabama. It was amazing, just beautiful. But the LONG drive was, let's just say.....AWFUL! We had four kids and me and Mr. Rob in a mini-van for 11 hours. It was the longest day! So this year I thought I had found the perfect solution...we would FLY!! Except for one problem....way too expensive! So instead of me pouting and fussing over having to drive all the way, pack snacks, stop for potty breaks and the ride would be even LONGER this tme...I decided that I needed to realize just how lucky we are to be even having a vacation! So many families right now are having a hard time making enough money just to feed their family and keep their homes...and here I was about to throw a fit over having to drive instead of fly! Have you ever tried to look at your situation from a different point of view? The next time you are throwing a fit over the Wii game you want and your mom won't buy you, or the fast-food stop you want to make instead of going home to eat, or a new outfit that you don't have the allowance for....think about all the kids that have so much less than you and I know that you will find the joy in your situation! God wants us to appreciate all that He provides for us and not be whiny about the things we don't have. So I am officially whine-free from now on!!

Our bible story last week was on the "Worker Ant verses the Slug" and we talked about taking the time to thank people in our lives that do "thank-less" jobs. Have you found the chance to thank someone this week? (I went out on Tuesday Morning...cold!...and thanked my garbage-woman!) And have you been a worker ant and kept doing your best even when no one is watching?

Wrap up super warm today and have some soup for dinner...or better yet, make soup for your family tonight! It would be very "worker ant" of you!!

Love and Hugs!

Snow Day

So, yesterday I got to thinking about God's resourcefulness and how amazing He is to use everyday events and people to shape us into who He wants us to be. When we have been talking about being resourceful, I think that we have been just concentrating on us and how we "are using what we have to get the job done". But, God is the ultimate example of resourcefulness...He has taken so little and made it into so much!!

I was watching the snow fall yesterday and thinking about all you girls and how I bet you are hoping for A LOT of snow...maybe even a snow day!! And I was getting all excited about drinking hot chocolate (with the little colored marshmallows...my favorite) in front of my fireplace and reading my favorite book. Then I just sat for a minute and watched as flakes started to cover my deck and yard and then it looked like God had taken powdered sugar and sprinkled all over the world... it was just beautiful. I was amazed at something so small, yet such a miracle in itself. And I took time to thank God for this beautiful sight and all He has given to us.

God was resourceful in creating the earth, resourceful in making humans, resourceful in nature and resourceful with our lives. He uses little things...like a snow...to show me how wonderful He is. He puts people in my life (like YOU) to show me how loving He is. And He gives me the things I need to show me how resourceful He is. God is so good!!

So today, take a minute to find something big or small that reminds you how resourceful God is and how He uses eveyday people and events to show Himself to us!! Hugs to you...stay warm...wear your ear-muffins!!

Love through Him,

Mrs. Liz

Well, you won't believe it....but, I had my first chance to show resourcefulness this morning!! I woke up early to get Katie ready for school and to make breakfast. I knew that Katie had asked for muffins this morning, but when I went to the pantry...there was no muffin mix! Yikes!! I had promised her a yummy breakfast for her first day back to school and I didn't want to disappoint her! So, here is what I did....I looked all over my kitchen and "used what I had to get the job done"!! I quickly made some pancakes and eggs and called Katie down for breakfast. She was soooo happy!! She had been hoping for pancakes, but knew that it took me longer to make them so she didn't think I could do it before school. She said it was the best first-day-back-breakfast ever!!

So God gave me what I needed...not just the pancake mix, but the resourcefulness to use what I had to get the job done!! And I did it to the best of my ability! Katie would have been OK with cold cereal, but I wanted to do my job like I was working for God...and I think He was proud of me!

So have you had a chance to show your resourcefulness yet? Or have you done a job already to the very best of your ability...like you are working for God and not for man?? Write me a comment back! I am praying for each of you on your first day back to school...that you have a fun day and that you have a chance to share Jesus with someone!! HUGS!!!
